Principal's Messege

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians of Neseplem School District:

I hope you are ready to experience an amazing school year!  Our staff is working hard to prepare engaging and rewarding learning experiences for all students. We place high value on our partnership with parents, families, and community and we invite you to be an active part of helping students to achieve their full potential.

We believe that each and every student has a gift to share, and we work hard to unlock their highest potential. We have high expectations of our students, and we have high expectations of ourselves to help all students learn and grow into well-rounded citizens and critical thinkers. Our aim is to develop leadership skills, social and emotional skills, and academic skills that prepare students for lifelong success.

NSD students will be taught to view themselves as learners and to think about what it looks like to be a good learner and thinker. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are as important as content knowledge. According to a recent Department of Labor report, 65% of students will be employed in jobs that do not yet exist, so it will be important for all students to acquire the analytical, evaluative, and creative skills to apply such thinking toward becoming successful in the jobs of the future.

To help your student be successful in school, start by making sure your child comes to school everyday, when children miss school, they miss valuable learning time, please make school a top priority.  Help your child understand what is required of them to be a good learner inside and outside of the classroom. Talk about qualities and learning behaviors such as: taking positive risks, viewing errors as opportunities, working to recover from a mistake, giving and receiving feedback, asking questions, collaborating with peers, setting goals, planning with a purpose, and tracking their own progress.

Students need both high challenges and high support to grow as learners, and we look forward to helping students maximize their growth at NSD. Please be our partners in this work. Let us know how we can help you support your child’s educational journey.

We invite you to our Welcome Back to School bbq Open House on Monday, August 27th from 4:30-6 pm. The first full day of school is Tuesday, August 28th beginning at 8:12 am and ending at 2:45 pm.

Preschool and Kindergarten students (3 and 4 year olds) will be testing the first 3 days of school so they will be attending school by appointment only.  Teachers will be contacting you for an appointment.

Students in the 6,7 and 8th grades who plan on participating in sports including cheerleading will need a current physical in their school file before they can begin practice.  The school will continue to encourage academic success by using grade checks for athletic participation required by WIAA. Practices will start the first full day of school.

Breakfast and lunch will be served on the first full day of school.  Our meal program is a Provision 2 status which mean students do not have to pay for breakfast and lunch.

Remember, all registration forms must be turned into the school office by the start of the school year.  If you have any question about forms or other school items, please call the school office at 509-634-4541.

We look forward to working with families to accomplish great things for our students.  We hope to see you at the bbq!
